The First Massage Program in Santa Fe
Started in 1985 at La Fonda on the Plaza, Santa Fe Massage began as a gateway to the city’s rich offerings of Healing Arts and Massage.
Santa Fe has long been regarded as a Wellness and Healing destination, established by its Native American population and their vast understanding and use of natural medicine. Natural remedies practiced by the Spanish and Mexican communities added to the healing essence of this region. Because of this unique cultural history enhanced with its snowcapped mountains and expansive deserts, our State Capital has become one of the Nation’s growing leaders in Alternative Medicine.
La Fonda on the Plaza was the 1st hotel to provide therapeutic massage to its guests directed by Santa Fe Massage. The cozy and inviting massage room is located adjacent to the beautiful, outdoor pool, hot tub, fitness center and patio.
Sherie Hartle & Stacey Ehlers
Sherie Hartle arrived in Santa Fe in 1982 to continue her studies in massage. As many new comers did upon arriving, she began working as an employee at La Fonda. In 1984, soon after completing her studies in Body Work, she established La Fonda’s massage program. In 1986 she set up the newly built Eldorado Hotel’s massage and spa program. In 1990 she did the same at the Hotel Santa Fe.
Stacey Ehlers also moved to Santa Fe to study massage, where she and Sherie began collaborating. Stacey brought her professional expertise, which led to a successful and diverse partnership.
In mid 2000 Santa Fe Massage was established. Sherie and Stacey have continued to combine their knowledge, sensitivity, and expertise of Therapeutic Body Work to develop this creative business and to coordinate and manage two locations: the Day Spa at La Fonda on the Plaza, and the luxurious full service spa at Hotel Santa Fe The Hacienda & Spa.
